LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Sirus Miklos, a 7-year-old boy born with spinal muscular atrophy, has had to deal with bullying for the last few months, but not by his peers at school. For weeks, impatient drivers have been harassing, yelling, and honking at the child, who uses a wheelchair, while he gets on and off his school bus.
As CBS 21 reported in October, Sirus takes a special bus designed for students with disabilities. Sharing his story resulted in millions of views on social media and hopes that bringing awareness would stop the bullying. Not only did the story change things at the bus stop for the Miklos family, it changed their lives forever.
The story reached one woman in Orlando who immediately sprung to action, calling our news station in hopes of meeting Sirus and his family. She uses a wheelchair herself, and is a parent to two children who have disabilities. After the report, CBS 21 connected the woman and the Miklos family. She showed up with a group of veterans, not only to bring their support, but Christmas presents for Sirus as well.
